The Mt Horrocks Historical Society hosted a successful South Australian History Festival Event on Saturday 14th May 2022. The ‘Twilight Walk Among Penwortham’s Gravestones’ was well attended.
Actors played out the people in the graves including, one of the first Doctors in the district, Dr Anton Sokolowsky, the headmaster of Stanley Grammar School in Watervale Carlyon Cole and two sad stories about the deaths of small children. Also on offer was the account of First Nations woman Kudnato and her connection to the cemetery, plus the tragic tale of John Ainsworth Horrocks and his camel.
The night concluded with wine and cheese nibbles around the campfire at the John Horrocks Cottage.
